    Christmas is such a magical time for children.  Mine can't wait, they are counting down the days,  They are wanting to wrap gifts, start reading our special Christmas story book and of course start the real countdown fr Christmas day.

    Advent calendars are such a beautiful way to add to the excitement.

    A few years ago I created this picture frame advent calendar tutorial.  Rather than lollies or chocolate, this calendar treats your children to a special experience for each day of the countdown.

    Here are my suggested special messages, please feel free to use these in your own advent calendar.

    1. Set Up and Decorate the Christmas Tree
    2. Make your Teacher a gift
    3. Make your neighbour a gift
    4. Buy new Christmas Pyjamas
    5. Go see the city Christmas lights
    6. Have a candle lit bubble bath
    7. Attend your local Christmas parade or make your own parade at home!
    8. Write letters to Santa
    9. Clean up your room and donate some toys you no longer play with
    10. Make Christmas cookies
    11. Sing and dance to Christmas music
    12. Watch a Christmas movie with popcorn
    13. Have hot chocolate and read Christmas books, next to the Christmas tree
    14. Write notes to each member of the family telling them how special they are & leave in their stockings to open Christmas morning
    15. Put on Pyjamas and go for a drive to look at Christmas lights in your area
    16. Participate in a charity drive (food / toys) in your local area.
    17. Dress up for a fancy, candlelight meal at home
    18. Give an anonymous gift (food, money, gift card, etc.)
    19. A date night with Daddy
    20. Decorate a Gingerbread House or train
    21. Have a picnic next to the Christmas tree
    22. Sleep on the floor under the Christmas tree
    23. Watch a Christmas movie with popcorn
    24. Christmas Eve - read the original Christmas story & Twas the night before Christmas & Put out milk and cookies for Santa (and a carrot for the reindeer)
